More tools for Generic Content in Sitefinity 3.x

Authors

The text editor that comes built into Sitefinity which is found on just about every module is the RadEditor from Telerik.

Problem seems to be that the amount of controls available on the toolbar is super minimal compaired to what is actually available to the RadEditor.  Luckily as always Telerik has make it super easy to expand.

Just loadup the ~/Sitefinity/Admin/ControlTemplates/EditorToolsFile.xml and simply add in the tools you would like to use!  Even better, just load in all the tools from ~/Sitefinity/Admin/ControlTemplates/EditorToolsFileAll.xml to get everything!

I’d recommend against adding in the font size, family, background, and color boxes if you’re making a page editable to non-developers or designers.  What I’ve noticed is that the look and feel of the page can get a bit messy since they don’t always know what looks good in the context of your site.  What you can do is create paragraph items in the XML for them to select blocks of code then wrap them in those tags.  This way you can set the styles yourself in the css to maintain a consistent look and feel across your site.
